3 Benefits To Having A Second Shooter At Your Wedding

Finding a photographer that has a second shooter might not be at the top of your checklist, but it should be. Most photographers include them or have an option to have one. Second shooters are very important when it comes to photographing your wedding, and I want to tell you why. I include a second shooter in all of my packages because I won't do a wedding without one.

Here are 3 reasons why you need a second shooter at your wedding....

DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES

Having two photographers means two different creative eyes, angles and perspectives from your ceremony to your reception. They are there to capture different and creative angles. Your primary photographer is most likely focused on getting those must have shots, while the second shooter is getting that same shot but in a completely different perspective.

BE IN TWO PLACES AT ONCE

Your primary photographer can literally be at two places at once if they have a second shooter. This is most important during the getting ready part of the day. While your primary photographer is focusing on your bridal details and maybe bridesmaid portraits, the second shooter can be tending to the groom. Getting his "getting ready" shots, his details, groomsmen portraits, and even ceremony and reception details.

BACKUP

This is a just in case scenario but hey, better to be prepared! Even for little things like potty breaks. Photographers are human and need a break if it's been a long day, might need to eat their vendor meal during speeches because there wasn't enough time during dinner, use the bathroom or even get sick. I know for me, I have to be on my death bed to not photograph a wedding, but there was a time right after dinner that I had the worst stomach pains. I was thankful that I had a second shooter, so I was able to take a little break to try and feel better. If I was the only photographer there, I would've missed so many candid shots from the reception.
